A quick intro, for anyone new here.

I'm Joe Zanca, and I run DealGen Partners. We outsource business development for private equity firms, family offices, and qualified buyers. We work as a partner, not as a vendor. In plain terms, we become your deal origination engine.

The work speaks for itself. On average, our clients are under LOI within the first 90 to 120 days. And we stand behind it: we'll bring you 10 qualified deals within the first four months, or we work for free until we hit that number.

So if you're looking for a new platform company to buy, or one of your existing platforms is looking to grow through acquisition, let's talk. We'll get into the industry, do a little market mapping, and start putting together a qualified list of targets.

The best private equity deal teams I work with have mastered staying in their “Zone of Genius”. A managing director and a vice president. Two people who are exceptional at one thing, taking a business apart, seeing what it could become, and getting the deal done. That's the engine.

What they don't do is spend their week cold calling owners and combing through broker lists. They can't. The minute a great analyzer turns into a part time prospector, the fund slows down and the returns follow.

So they buy the front of the funnel. They bring in a team like ours to put as many good businesses in front of them as possible. Not to replace their judgment. To feed it.

People get squeamish about the cost. Let's be honest about the math. Say you pay four or five percent to the person who found the deal (DealGen charges under 3%). You're writing a check for thirty, forty, sometimes a hundred million dollars. Yes, the originator just got paid well, maybe even got “rich”. But if you do what you say you can do, so did you, and so did your investors.

If people are open to reviewing some of the recent deals we've found, or search thesis' we've put together,  lets schedule a call today.

Nobody remembers the origination fee on the deal that makes the fund. The fee is rounding error. The deal flow is the whole business.

Origination was never supposed to be the thing you're great at. Closing is. The new model isn't a fund trying to do everything in house. It's a sharp deal team that spends its hours where the money is actually made, and pays specialists to keep the good opportunities flowing. See more of the right deals and you'll close more of the ones that matter.

How many hours last month did your highest-paid dealmakers spend hunting for deals instead of closing them?

This is the part of the newsletter where we open up the board.

Every idea you'll find here is a search we'd happily run with the right partner. An idea earns its spot one of two ways. Either it's a space where we're seeing strong deal flow right now and we're looking for a buyer to chase it with us — or it's a market we've watched fragment, where we see a real opportunity to build something through consolidation.

Feel free to click around and browse our idea database. If one of them fits what you're after, reach out and let's run it together.

If any of this resonates, I'd love to compare notes schedule a call
